Grab some isopropyl alcohol from your medicine cabinet and pour it onto a clean, dry, cotton cloth. Dab, don't rub, the spot with the cloth until the marker stain begins to lift. Then, wipe away the residue with a slightly damp cloth and pat dry. It may take a few rounds to completely remove the stain, but stop applying the alcohol if you notice stain or discoloration on your cotton cloth. Be mindful that isopropyl dissolves varnish, so too many repeated rounds will most likely damage the finish. You may have to repeat the steps laid out above a few times to acheive success, but with a little effort and patience, you can remove most permanent ink stains.
Remember, the goal is to achieve a paste-like consistency. Therefore, you can add more water if the solution is too dry or a bit more baking soda if it’s too watery. Perhaps the simplest way is to use some salt. Just add a cup of salt to the washing machine, without adding any detergent to the solution. Put it through the coldest cycle your washing machine supports.

Similar to hand sanitizer, insect repellent contains isopropyl alcohol, which dissolves permanent marker ink. Spray a heavy amount of bug spray over the mark/stain and use your finger or tissue to rub it onto your skin. Continue spraying the repellent and rubbing the marker stain until it dissolves completely. Baking soda is very helpful against removal of permanent marker stains, especially from tough fabrics. Make a paste by mixing baking soda and water. Use it to rub the stain before scrubbing it gently.

However, the name is misleading as the marker does not mark all surfaces permanently. Below are a few things you can try to remove the Sharpie from your plastic surfaces. Once you see the marker start to lift, wipe the area with a clean, dry cloth.
Continue rubbing the area till all the ink has vanished. Once the ink fades, wash the area with warm water and pat dry with a clean cloth. Gently spread the toothpaste lemon solution over the permanent marker area slowly.
First choice is rubbing/isopropyl alcohol, a solvent, which works really well. Be careful, alcohol is volatile so open a window or two. Apply the alcohol to a clean cotton bud/swab, or cloth, or small towel, and use rub the wet spot at the marker stains. You don't need to wash rubbing alcohol away with water, because it dries on it's own. But you do need to wash away alcoholic drinks.
