Belos tells Hunter that he is a Grimwalker and the one who looked the most like "him" and seemingly gets rid of him.

In "Hollow Mind" however, after finding out about his true nature during his and Luz's time in Belos' mind, Hunter gradually began learning about Caleb's existence, but was initially unaware of his name or true character, knowing only by the Day of Unity that he was a witch hunter with Belos before being killed by him. Because of this, Hunter initially held a fearful opinion of Caleb, assuming him to have shared Belos' hatred of witch and demonkind.
Hunter and Luz explore the painting to find Belos preaching to a crowd how the Titan I desired them to have controlled magic as explosions occur. Hunter begins losing control of himself and peels of a bandage to find that Belos has entered his body through the cut on his finger and takes off after seeing him again, separating from Luz, but when she finds him, Belos has completely overtaken Hunter and forces him to attack Luz against his will.
In "Watching and Dreaming", Hunter and everyone gets captured and controlled to scare Luz, after waking up Hunter and everyone tell Luz how to stop this nightmare. Camila tell them to protect the transformed people while Luz and the rest fight Belos. After Belos' defeat and the Collector releasing everyone, Hunter is a bit sad due to while Belos was a bad person he was his only family since he was clone of Belos's brother, but he sees Darius and Eberwolf and is happy to see them again.
